Lumens (denoted by lm) are a measure of the total amount of visible light (to the human eye) from a lamp or light source. The higher the lumen rating the “brighter” the lamp will appear

Step 1: Input Room Information

Step 2: Calculation Map

Note: The distance that you place the first light is half of the distance of that between two lights. For example: If the distance between two lights is 40", then the distance between the wall and the first light is 20".

Step 3: what You'll Need

You will need approximately recessed lights for your room. This number is an approximation as we understand that all rooms aren't perfectly square, or rectangular plus you may want to include a main light fixture.

Depending on the type of recessed light You may also need housings, trims and bulbs.
